On the art and graphics front, the game is a visual marvel and makes it hard to believe it's. All of this is to say nothing of the visual and sound design of Tchia, which ended up being some of its biggest draws. Surprising violence occurs, and inappropriate jokes are told, all in contrast to the childlike visuals, and it quickly made me a fan. Characters speak in French and Drehu and the player gets a real sense of place. Tchia is easily one of the most visually striking games to come out in recent memory and is downright jaw-dropping for an Indie title. Overall, though, Tchia does a fantastic job of integrating folkloric and spiritual traditions in a way that feels unforced, respectful, and elegant. If an animal needs to be butchered, so be it. The game does not shy away from the reality of animals and nature as a resource, however. Most of the game’s quests involve interacting with nature. A reverence for the natural world is a fundamental aspect of Tchia. While New Caledonia is French territory, its culture and folklore are deeply rooted in Pacific Island traditions. There’s a great amount of give-and-take between using abilities to complete a quest and completing a quest or mini-game to gain new abilities. This might involve something simple like soul jumping into a bird to reach a high treetop, or becoming a boulder. Because she can glide, inhabit and control animals and manipulate objects with her soul-jumping ability, Tchia can solve environmental puzzles and get what she needs. Very often these involve collecting objects from seemingly inaccessible locations. Its cartoonish appearance and non-violent approach to. Based on that pitch alone, I was interested in Tchia. Tchia Developer: Awaceb Price: TBD Platform: PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store) MonsterVine was provided with a PS5 code for review. They send her on typical RPG-style side quests. All Tchia has is her trusty slingshot and an ability to soul jump into animals to fight this powerful evil. Despite tons of map icons that were simply go to a point to collect an item, I had a really good time with this game. While rescuing her father is her primary goal, Tchia meets a wide range of NPCs. The music is really good, often giving me Lion King vibes. It finishes up strong with a memorable ending. It ends up being one of the strong points of the game. Tommy Holloway / MaTchia Review ( PS5) If you have been watching Sony’s recent State of Plays, it’s more than likely you would have seen Tchia. The story goes in some dark places compared to the atmosphere the islands portray. There is a stamina bar for this so you can’t spam it. Game Reviews Tchia Review: An Open World Adventure That's A Work Of Art By Carrie Lambertsen Published Tchia is an open-world adventure inspired by New Caledonia and is as much a work of art as an engaging and immersive game that deserves attention. But the birds are awesome because you can simply take to the sky and fly quickly over tall mountains or dense forests. You are able to possess every animal you find in this game, from birds to boars to fish to crickets. There is a little combat but what is there is sporadic and basic.īy far my favorite aspect of this game is possessing animals, specifically the birds. There are a few races to complete and shooting challenges but for the most part the game is simply traveling and exploring the islands. That’s what most of this game entails although many of the icons are simply items to grab. I love exploring worlds and checking icons off my map. Tchia is open world and like many of those games there are spots that once you get to open up more objectives for you to find and complete. An awe-inspiring archipelago that immediately puts the mind at ease, particularly in those (thankfully frequent) moments where you catch the sun setting gently behind a blanket of blue ocean, hear. The game does a great job of giving you the island feel. The next game to demand, to deserve your attention this year, is Tchia. 2023 has been a solid year for games so far, and it does not seem to be relenting anytime soon. In this game you play as a little girl who ends up exploring a few islands. Tchia from Awaceb and Kepler Interactive is an outstanding island adventure that you need to check on PlayStation. Firstly, these are the minimum set of gaming requirements for your PC that you need so you can run Tchia. From being able to climb anything, to paragliding, to the use of a stamina bar that works just like Zelda. From its calm exploration to its charming story to its dozens of wonderful little moments, Tchia is one of the best games of 2023 so far. It reminds me of Breath of the Wild lite, as far as the world and exploration part of it. It is deeply inspired by the culture of New Caledonia, and in showing that it creates one of the warmest, most engaging experiences in gaming. Tchia starts off slow before the world begins to open up.
